The Linear Guideways is a kind of transmission guide, which is the infinite rolling cycle of the steel ball in the raceway of the sliding block and the guide rail to realize the high-precision linear movement of the load platform along the slide rail.
2 Advantage of Linear Guideways (compared with traditional sliding bearings)
1) High positioning accuracy
When using a linear guideway as a linear guide, because the friction method of the linear motions is rolling friction, not only the friction coefficient is reduced to 1/50 of the sliding guide, but the gap between dynamic friction and static friction also becomes very small. Therefore, when the platform is running, there will be no slipping, and the positioning accuracy of μm can be achieved.
2) Less wear and long-term accuracy
Traditional sliding guidance will inevitably lead to poor platform motion accuracy due to oil film counter-current action, and insufficient lubrication during motion will cause wear on the contact surface of the running track, which will seriously affect accuracy. The wear of the rolling guide is very small, so the machine can maintain accuracy for a long time.
3) Suitable for high-speed movement and greatly reduce the required driving horsepower of the machine
Since the frictional force is very small when the linear bearings move, only a small amount of power is required to make the CNC lathe run, especially when the lathe working mode is regular reciprocating operation, it can significantly reduce the power loss of the machine. And because the heat generated by friction is small, it is suitable for high-speed operation.
4) Can bear the load of all directions (up, down, left and right) at the same time
Due to the special beam structure design of the linear guide, it can bear the load in the up, down, left and right directions at the same time, unlike the sliding guide in the direction of the parallel contact surface, which can bear the side load lighter, it is easy to cause poor machine operation accuracy.
5) Easy to assemble and interchangeable
When assembling, you only need to mill or grind the assembly surface of the guide rail on the machine table, and follow the recommended steps to fix the guide rail and the slide block to the machine table with a specific torque, which can reproduce the high precision of processing. The traditional sliding guide requires shoveling of the running track, which is time-consuming, and once the accuracy of the machine is poor, it must be shoveled again. The linear guide rails are interchangeable. The slide block or guide rail or even the linear guide rail group can be replaced separately, and the machine can regain high-precision guidance.
6) Simple lubrication structure
If the sliding guide is insufficiently lubricated, it will cause direct friction and loss of the metal on the contact surface. However, it is not easy for the sliding guide to be lubricated enough. It is necessary to drill a hole in the appropriate position of the table to supply oil. The linear guide has a grease nipple on the slider, which can be directly injected with grease with a grease gun, or it can be replaced with a special oil pipe joint to connect to the oil supply pipe for automatic lubrication.
